51st Turkey Dinner for Seniors
“Today we were once again honored to participate in the Whitman Knights of Columbus 51st Annual Thanksgiving Dinner for Seniors!
A great event hosted by one of the very best organizations in town, the Whitman Knights Of Columbus. This event provides a free turkey dinner with all the fixin’s to approximately 300 Senior citizens! A BIG shoutout to the Knights of Columbus Staff who works tirelessly to prepare, cook, and serve these meals to our wonderful seniors!
Another thanks to Coach Zach Botelho and the Whitman Hanson Varsity Football Team for volunteering each year to help serve the meals to our very appreciative group of senior citizens. Well done boys!…and good luck on Thanksgiving Day with your game vs Abington!”

50th Anniversary Turkey Dinner for Seniors (1973-2023)
On November 18th, the Whitman Knights of Columbus hosted its 50th Turkey Dinner for Seniors! The Whitman Knights of Columbus is a non-profit organization that serves as a community function center. The Turkey Dinner has been a yearly tradition since 1973 for fifty straight years. Every single year, the Whitman-Hanson Football team shows up to help serve the meals, giving them a chance to meet the seniors in the community. In addition, the Whitman Police also helped with serving meals. Overall, this was another successful event hosted by the Knights of Columbus that brought everyone in the community together!
48th Annual Thanksgiving Dinner for Seniors 2022
48th annual Whitman Knights of Columbus Senior Dinner on November 19th, 2022. Due to a great team effort by all, we were honored to serve 300+ meals, including all the volunteers ( Whitman Hanson football players, Whitman Police officers who volunteered to help serve meals, and our own volunteers).
The Whitman Knights of Columbus would like to thank Chief of Police, Tim Hanlon, Deputy Chief, Joe Bombardier and Officer John Cannizzo.
We are most grateful to Mary Holland, Director for the Council on Aging, plus all the brother Knights, Ladies of Peace, and friends of the Council who helped make this a great day for the seniors!
A special thanks to Coach Zach and all the members of the Whitman-Hanson football team who helped serve! 🏈
Thanksgiving Meals for Seniors
Due to the pandemic, the Knights of Columbus Whitman—Council #347 partnered with the Whitman Police Department to deliver homemade Turkey Dinners directly to the Seniors’ homes this year. This is the 47th consecutive year that the Knights have carried on this beloved Thanksgiving tradition of serving free Thanksgiving dinners to the Whitman area Senior citizens.
In past years, when the Hall was open, we served an average of 460 meals to Seniors, servers, volunteers, and staff.
The Whitman Police Department posted the following on their Facebook page (11/21/20)
“Today the Whitman Knights of Columbus hosted their annual Thanksgiving meals for seniors. A tradition that they have continued for the past 47 consecutive years!
This year, due to Covid-19, they were not able to have everyone at the hall so we offered to deliver the 135 meals to the seniors.
The Knights of Columbus and all of their dedicated & selfless volunteers do a fantastic job with this event every year. They do so much for our community with little recognition. We can’t thank them enough for all that they do. It’s always a privilege to participate in this meaningful tradition.”
